About the role
The role is to provide management of activities in readiness for delivery of the works in theGeotechnical scope, part of the overarching Civil Works Programme of SZC. The Project Manager will support the development of the strategy for delivering the Geotechnical scope safely and to cost, schedule and quality within the agreed constraints.
The role includes management and coordination of other team members, with the primary task to the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process between Geotech team, the L3 Designer, and Client, inputting into and monitoring programme and site readiness deliverables, whilst recognising the impacts of the programme on
the wider Project and interfacing packages.
The scope of the Geotechnical works is the design, planning, procurement, and execution of the plastic cut off wall, ground improvement and retaining structures
What you’ll be doing

Health Safety & Environmental

  • Creates a culture of openness and trust in reporting of Health and Safety matters
  • Sets and manages targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors

performance, steering towards success

  • Leads / Reviews Accident / Incident Investigations. Reviews and appraises findings and

leads / directs the appropriate action arising. Implements culture for change when required

  • Appraises safety improvement options and leads action within SZC CWA and Supply Chain
  • Leads periodic risk reviews and takes output forward to the Project Risk Register
  • Keeps up to date with changes in legislation and cascades information to the team
  • Must ensure appropriate consents/ permits and licenses are supported, obtained and

complied with, from relevant regulatory bodies

Engineering Control

  • Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the Works Section and that each has an

appropriate level of ability.

  • Identifies longer term strategic training to support individual development as required
  • Good knowledge and experience of nuclear environments and the specific

protocol/procedures of managing the construction works

Quality

  • Sets targets and KPI’s in line with Project objectives and monitors performance
  • Ensures site audits are undertaken and takes appropriate action on the findings
  • Appraises improvement options and leads / instigates actions as appropriate
  • Manages the implementation of systems and processes for Right First-Time approach
  • Leads working groups focused on Improvement Areas
  • Overall ownership of Handover Documentation for Section
  • Conducts Lessons learned investigations, shares learning and implements improvement

Who we’re looking for
Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed

accurately. Implements improvements to systems

  • Takes ownership of tasks and communicates outcomes with clarity, direction and purpose, including

managing others in this regard.

  • Strong understanding of marine environment / nuclear environment
  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights.
  • Able to frequently work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility and

lead and manage others in this regard.

  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card. Must be SMSTS qualified.
  • Excellent team player and team leader, able to work competently and independently without supervision.

Reports back as necessary to update Senior Project Manager

  • Able and willing to make decisions following consideration of options based on best available information.
  • Strong communication skills with track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution
  • Excellent role model for development of junior staff and demonstrates required behaviours to align to

business, project and team objectives.

  • Provision of assistance and expert knowledge to reinforce the objectives of the work winning teams.
  • Champions and develops collaborative behaviours within and external to the team.
  • Ability to manage large teams and monitor progression of individuals
