POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the PMO Program Manager, Information Services, the Information and Communications Technologies Project Manager uses a disciplined approach to plan, execute and finalize medium-risk and moderately complex projects, mostly departmental, but also enterprise-wide projects or Ministry initiatives in accordance with strict deadlines, budget and meeting scope and quality expectations. The successful candidate will comply and work in conjunction with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, which fosters a collaborative culture of patient, family and staff safety and satisfaction.
Responsible for developing ICT solution options to meet hospital plans and challenges the role is responsible for ensuring the appropriate team is assembled to execute those solutions successfully. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordinates the work of Project Analysts and monitors and manages the cost, risk, schedule, governance, technical performance, and program impact of each of their assignment projects. Responsible for quality control, communication and change management for the projects and ensure all major milestones are met.
Manages the scope of the projects, escalate risks and issues and seek their resolution as required and is accountable for the outcome, benefit realization, and the ultimate success of the projects to which he/she is assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline is required. Healthcare background an asset.
  • 5 to 7 years related experience in an IT environment; 1 or more years in a Project Management capacity is required.
  • PMP certification highly desirable
  • Proven ability to successfully apply project planning, scheduling, monitoring, reporting, budgeting and control techniques
  • Skilled in tracking deliverables of projects to ensure milestones are met and projects are completed on time and on budget. Monitors performance expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams of professional employees, consultants and contractors
  • Must understand business systems analysis, technology appropriate integration/deployment/development methodologies and analysis and design techniques as applied over the entire lifecycle of an information system
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills; ability to build relationships with internal staff and external suppliers
  • Proven ability to directly manage project teams and budgets
  • Advanced skills in written and verbal communication
  • Manage project scope, risk, issues and change
  • Develop work plans for a variety of related assignments or projects, including identifying tasks to be completed, assigning owner resources and coordinating delivery of outputs
  • Effective communication and escalation of late activities and unresolved issues
  • Execute the project plan in a manner that effectively balances the specified mix of quality, time and cost
  • Respond to changing priorities by identifying and assessing risks, managing issue resolution, and adjusting work schedules to ensure that deliverables are met and implementation is successful
  • Assist in the development of contingency plans where appropriate
  • Manage and communicate project status
  • Demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills to optimize the outcome of project deliverables, working in partnership with peers, business users and IT service providers
