PROJECT MANAGER
Vital Alert Communications, leader in through-the-earth wireless communication technology, is seeking to fill a position in Ottawa for Project Manager with a proven background in project organization and execution. The preferred candidate will have at least 5 years of engineering project management experience in multi-disciplinary teams developing products in industrial or communications applications. Experience should include the management of the following aspects of industrial product design; mechanical, real-time embedded hardware and firmware.. This role will involve the successful candidate in day-to-day project management of an R&D team. The Project Manager must be a self-starter, comfortable working with a small engineering team in a high-growth company. Strong English language communication skills including documentation and reporting are essential. This is a contract with the potential for full-time employment. REQUIREMENTS
The candidate is required to have the following skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
· Minimum 10 years’ working experience in electronics product development as a designer or project manager.
· Experience managing the development of mechanical, hardware and firmware elements of a product.
· Experience working with contract manufacturers.
· Energetic with excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
· Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
· Willing and able to provide hands-on support to the engineering team when necessary.
· Capable of working closely with customers.

Responsibilities:
· Organize and manage a complex 12-month engineering project
· Organize and manage an existing team consisting of mechanical, electronics hardware and software engineers to meet specific customer deliverables.
· Act as prime customer technical contact
· Prepare and maintain budgets for contract deliverables
· Organize and maintain compliance with customer policies and procedures
· Prepare and maintain budget and schedule updates and weekly progress reports
