Since 1965, the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources has brought together professors from many different disciplines and departments at the University of Toronto to teach and conduct research on all aspects of the workplace and employment relationships. The CIRHR faculty reflect the depth, breadth, and diversity of our university. The CIRHR is located in a historic home with administrative and faculty offices, an on-site Library, student computer facilities, study space and a classroom.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.


    • A Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as public administration, business administration, social sciences, health policy, public health is an strong asset.

    • Completion of formal training or certification in project management is strongly preferred.
    • A minimum of six years of recent and relevant experience in supporting large, multi-stakeholder research projects, preferably in academic, public, or non-profit settings
    • Experience implementing project management principles and tools in an academic, public, or non-profit setting, with a focus on accessibility, equity, and youth employment systems.
    • Experience in developing policies and standard operating procedures for use in an academic, public, or non-profit setting
    • Proven experience in overseeing complex budgets, financial reporting, and funding compliance
    • Experience of preparing comprehensive activity reports (e.g., annual narrative reports, public-facing reports)
    • Experience developing sub-award contracts, Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), and Request for Proposals (RFP) and experience with contract oversight, and vendor relations management
    • Leading cross-sector or interdepartmental collaborations
    • Expertise in the project management of large projects, preferably in an academic setting with members from a wide variety of backgrounds, and expertise in compliance with and reporting of projects/initiatives funded by Tri-Agency
    • Proven experience in managing and motivating team members in a unionized environment.
    • Managing project governance committees (developing Terms of Reference, member selection, meeting coordination)
    • Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at the same time. Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet strict and competing deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative skills, with demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels
    • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and prepare remediate digital documents to ensure full compliance with accessibility standards such as AODA or WCAG

    Responsibilities

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

    • Producing complex reports involving statistical and/or financial information for funding agencies
    • Planning and implementing project phases
    • Developing or modifying project schedules to expedite and/or compress the critical path to meet timelines
    • Implementing project communications plans
    • Delivering presentations to promote programs, opportunities and/or initiatives
    • Advising academic and administrative staff on financial matters and reporting requirements
    • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines
    • Researching, analyzing and recommending solutions to project challenges
    • Coordinating tasks for projects and other strategic initiatives with stakeholders,
    • Drafting progress reports for project leader’s review
    • Analyzing processes and recommending changes for more efficient coordination of operations
    • Analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for management decision-making
    • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function
    • Ensuring research sponsor financial terms have been applied correctly
