Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage.   About the role This role in the Ecological Outcomes Team based in Moama plays a pivotal part in the ecological research and restoration of RAMSAR-listed wetlands within Murray Valley National Park. The team works closely with local First Nations community groups and state and federal Government departments. The Project Officer will primarily be responsible for managing and delivering ecological monitoring projects relating to the Murray Darling Basin Authority’s The Living Murray Program and other wetland rehabilitation priorities. This includes planning and delivering projects, managing contractors, and developing and reviewing reports. Examples of projects that you could deliver and/or facilitate include native fish reintroductions, vegetation and seed bank research, bittern trapping, and monitoring of fish, yabbies, waterbirds, and water quality. This role would benefit from your initiative to conceive project ideas, passion for the environment, and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders. There is a high degree of autonomy in delivering outcomes, where self-direction and the ability to manage competing priorities is crucial. Note: Understanding of wetland ecology is beneficial to the role. This role will require you to undertake field work. Due to the nature of the work, this role requires a regular on-site presence.
