  • Dynamic role based in the Office of the Commissioner, supporting with information requests across the Youth Justice system.
  • Use your strategic thinking and policy skills to support high-level, confidential communications across Youth Justice.
    Youth Justice is responsible for the statutory supervision of children and young people in contact with the justice system in Victoria. Children and young people who are involved in Youth Justice are either supervised in the community, or within Youth Justice custodial facilities. Youth Justice works with these children and young people to address the underlying causes of their offending behaviour and help them to achieve positive change in their lives.

The opportunity

  • Full time position fixed term until 30 June 2027, based in Melbourne.
  • VPS 4 role: $97,955 - $111,142 per year plus super.
  • Support the actioning of requests for Youth Justice information, including under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, subpoenas, information sharing schemes and DJCS’ Justice and Assurance Review Office.
  • Support with the management of file requests which include, requesting, reviewing, registering, tracking, and reporting on progress of files.
  • Monitor the Youth Justice Directorate inbox and the Community Incidents inbox, and support the Senior Project Officer with responding, triaging and prioritising work.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in public sector administration and knowledge of government processes. Experience working with sensitive and confidential information in a complex operational environment and/or knowledge of Youth Justice operations and current policy direction is also desirable.
This role operates within a dynamic environment that requires flexibility, adaptability, the capacity to exercise sound judgement and the ability to take effective, timely action.
A tertiary qualification in public administration or a similar discipline is desirable.
A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
