  • Support the delivery of strategic projects within the Youth Justice Directorate by contributing to planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Help shape project priorities and respond to complex issues, while managing documentation, tracking progress, and supporting risk and issue management.
  • Contribute to improving the outcomes of young people’s futures.
    Youth Justice is responsible for the statutory supervision of children and young people in contact with the justice system in Victoria. Children and young people who are involved in Youth Justice are either supervised in the community, or within Youth Justice custodial facilities. Youth Justice works with these children and young people to address the underlying causes of their offending behaviour and help them to achieve positive change in their lives.
    The Project Officer reports to the Senior Manager, Office of the Executive Director, and is responsible for supporting project planning and monitoring including contributing to a range of workforce activities to achieve project objectives. They’re also responsible for managing project documentation, engaging with key internal and external stakeholders and supporting the Youth Justice custodial Directorate Team.

The opportunity

  • Ongoing position based at Parkville Youth Justice Precinct.
  • VPS 4 role: $97,955 - $111,142 per year plus super.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a range of strategic projects within the Youth Justice Directorate.
  • Play a role in determining key priorities and responding to complex and sensitive project issues, including project development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation
  • Prepare a range of project documents, monitor and report on project status, contributing to risk and issue management.

The position is based at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct though regular travel to the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct is required.

Responsibilities
  • experience in, or knowledge of, the Youth Justice Custodial environment
  • strong planning and organisation skills in the provision of project management support
  • ability to work collaboratively within a broader team to prepare quality, timely and accurate written materials
  • high-level interpersonal skills building strong stakeholder relationships
  • ability to determine priorities in an environment of tight and conflicting deadlines, taking initiative and working under limited direction
  • current driver’s licence.
    A tertiary qualification in public administration or a similar discipline is desirable.
    A current Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to receiving your contract of employment. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
