The Department of Physics and Materials Science (DPhyMS) at FSTM pursues excellence in fundamental and applied research, rigorous education, and impactful outreach. Responsibilities

The Project Officer (PO) will reinforce the team of Research Facilitators (RFs) within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM). Reporting to the Team Leader, the PO will play a key role in supporting the management and implementation of research projects in the Department of Physics and Materials Science, with a particular focus on European Research Council (ERC) grants and other strategic departmental initiatives.
Working closely with principal investigators, the RF team, administrative staff, and the faculty’s financial controllers, the project officer will be responsible for the post-award phase of research projects, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate administrative project kick-offs and maintain communication with project partners and funding agencies
  • Oversee project execution from a management perspective, identifying and facilitating support for technical and educational needs
  • Manage contractual aspects of projects in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  • Lead and support project reporting activities, including:
  • Monitoring expenditures and assisting partners with financial processes
  • Completing funder reporting templates
  • Drafting deliverables and coordinating their timely submission
  • Ensure effective communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain proactive follow-up and tracking of project progress
