Organizational Context and Scope Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM), and in close coordination with the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Regional Thematic Specialist (RTS) at the Regional Office and relevant Divisions/Departments/Units at Headquarter (HQ), the Project Officer - Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) will be responsible and accountable for the implementation and oversight of the IBG portfolio in Timor-Leste. The Project Officer (IBG) will work closely with the Government of Timor-Leste and the donor to implement the Immigration and Border Governance project in a timely manner to the satisfaction of the Government of Timor-Leste and the donor. The ultimate objective of the project is to strengthen Timor-Leste’s migration and border management systems to counter organized crime, promote national security, and support economic growth. The project will expand and enhance the Migration and Border Management Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) through the roll-out of the system to additional target Border-Crossing Points (BCPs). The project will also deliver a suite of capacity building activities to relevant national stakeholders including training and the development of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Responsibilities
The Project Officer will be responsible and accountable for the implementation and oversight of the Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) portfolio in Timor-Leste, working closely with the Government and donor to ensure timely project execution. The ultimate objective is to strengthen Timor-Leste’s migration and border management systems to counter organized crime, promote national security, and support economic growth.
