JOB DESCRIPTION: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (POWER & E&I)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in electrical engineering, with exposure to power generation, process plants, or renewable energy projects.
  • Solid knowledge of E&I systems (instrumentation, field devices, automation, SCADA/DCS/PLC).
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical power systems (MV/LV distribution, switchgear, protection relays, earthing, cables, transformers).
  • Experience in EPC/EPCM project execution, including site supervision, commissioning, and contractor/vendor management.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (LOTO, ATEX, arc-flash, SIL) and electrical regulatory requirements in Singapore.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as ETAP, AutoCAD, or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with cross-disciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

Sobono Energy is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with strong foundations in Power Engineering and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) systems to join our project team for the RExus WWtE Plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design review, implementation, commissioning, and ongoing optimisation of electrical and instrumentation systems within a large-scale renewable energy facility.
This role is critical to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant’s electrical infrastructure and its integration with instrumentation, automation, and control systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and support design review and technical evaluation of electrical systems (MV, LV, switchgear, transformers, UPS, cabling).
  • Oversee E&I engineering, including instrumentation selection, installation, and integration with DCS/PLC/SCADA systems.
  • Support construction, installation, and commissioning activities for electrical and control systems.
  • Conduct system studies (load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, harmonics) to validate design and operational safety.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements (e.g., EMA, NEA, JTC, BCA, SS standards) and international codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, datasheets, and drawings for procurement and vendor packages.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, EPC contractors, and internal engineering teams on equipment FAT, SAT, and performance testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in electrical and instrumentation systems during construction and O&M.
  • Provide support for metering integration and digitalisation initiatives (smart metering, predictive maintenance).
  • Contribute to O&M readiness, developing maintenance plans, and training plant operators on electrical/E&I/E&I systems.
