SKILLS YOU’LL NEED:

  • Good understanding of general insurance, including core lines of business and operations in a global (re)insurer.
  • Skilled in building trusted relationships with stakeholders at all seniority levels.
  • Experience in complex change delivery or strong knowledge of project methodologies.
  • Ability to credibly challenge change SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) and senior delivery leaders across multiple initiatives.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of technology and systems within an insurance context.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to operate at pace in an evolving environment.
  • A curious mindset and determination to deliver outcomes that influence decision-making.
  • Confident in distilling complex information into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and presentational, with a sharp eye for detail.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Project Risk Manager , you’ll work as part of an established team within EO Risk that supports strategic change delivery across QBE’s EO (European Operations) Division .
The Project Risk team is an established practice within EO’s 2nd Line function. We partner with business sponsors of strategic projects, the EO Transformation Office and the wider change community to deliver risk management support and advice to projects, as well as oversight and robust independent challenge through targeted Risk advisory and 2nd Line review and assurance activities.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead Risk engagement with high-significance initiatives, providing insights, advice and independent challenge.
  • Represent Risk at key business and governance forums, including input into quarterly Line 2 Opinions for ORSA reporting.
  • Deliver thematic or project-specific deep dives, offering analysis-led insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Act as Risk Business Partner to key 1st Line functions and participate in transformation governance forums.
  • Prepare Board and committee reporting on transformation and project risk, including ORSA contributions.
  • Contribute to the Risk Management Framework through collaboration on Top Risks, KRIs, and Issues & Incidents.
  • Manage and develop a direct report, role-modelling EO’s risk culture and leadership behaviours.
  • Present complex findings and insights clearly to senior audiences, acting on feedback to improve impact.
  • Champion the team’s role and voice in EO’s transformation journey through meaningful engagement.
  • Promote and embody QBE’s “DNA” and inclusive culture throughout all activities and relationships.
