Responsibilities

Terracon’s Harrisburg office is looking for a talented addition to our Environmental Department! We are looking for a Project Manager for Environmental Due Diligence projects. The ideal individual will be able to propose, conduct, assign, and review Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for a variety of project types in Pennsylvania and possibly surrounding states. They will also organize and schedule the performance of Environmental Phase I/II ESAs based on the client’s request. The selected individual will conduct meetings with the clients as necessary to determine needs, cost expectation, and schedule, and draft proposals for Environmental Phase I/II assessments for review by Senior Scientists. They will also conduct environmental site investigations, assessments and surveys to sample, measure and analyze air, water, source materials, and/or soil. Through these investigations and analysis, they will identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. They will prepare applicable technical documents including proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence. Projects will primarily include Phase I/II environmental site assessments, but may also include Underground Storage Tank closure assessments, preparation of waste investigation plans, soil and groundwater characterizations, remediation investigations, and site planning and permitting. Due to the nature of the position, the ideal candidate must be very organized and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in/lead pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management and take corrective actions to mitigate such issues.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills and attention to detail in all aspects of work assignments.
  • Experienced with ASTM Environmental Due Diligence standards.
  • Manage all aspects of a small to medium sized project.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources needed to complete the project. This may include preparing calculations, designs, reports and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors.
  • Oversee and mentor junior staff members for the collection of field data to support project assignments. Implements technical requirements to complete client- authorized projects by directing field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.
  • Performs site visits and attend pre-bid meetings, field observations, and field collection on assignments.
  • Ability to learn and apply environmental laws and regulations.
  • Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects.
  • Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones.
  • Coordinate with accounting staff for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing and collections. Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company, coworkers, and clients. Be familiar with and comply with company risk policies.
  • Responsible for continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor and promote quality standards and practices.
