Job Summary. Responsible for the coordination and completion of projects on time, and within budget, and aligned with defined scope. Oversee all aspects of project management, including developing a scope of work and project budget, setting deadlines, assigning and managing responsibilities of a project team, monitoring and reporting progress and ensuring performance across multiple projects, and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement.
Illustrative Essential Duties. The duties listed below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work of this position. The list is not exhaustive or restrictive, and other duties may be assigned.

Project Management

  • Manages research, assembly, and preparation of grant applications for R1 Planning Council and its external clients
  • Aids in the development of complex projects and initiatives involving data collection and analysis, public meetings, public presentations, surveys, writing, graphics, and document publication.
  • Assists the Director of Economic Development & Policy in distributing workloads efficiently across staff and projects.
  • Maintains rigorous organizational habits to ensure accuracy, adherence to deadlines and responsiveness to client needs.
  • Develops qualitative scopes of work for internal and external project work, including working with external clients to develop a scope of work for grant applications that best align a client’s interests and conformance to complex grant rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Develops budgets for internal and external project work, including the development of complex grant application budgets.
  • Develops proposals, service agreements, and procurement solicitations.
  • Ensures quality through editing, proofreading, and rigorous review of deliverables.
  • Supports Director of Economic Development & Policy in assigning team tasks, allocating resources, and tracking projects and expenditures.
  • Supports Director of Economic Development & Policy in establishing and maintaining professional client relationships.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure public involvement and public input regarding R1 project work; researches and implements new strategies to enhance public involvement and public input on R1 project work.
  • Maintain and prepare reports, records, and documentation necessary for conformance with applicable State and Federal guidelines and regulations and R1 Planning Council brand standards.

Board and Committee Responsibilities

  • Ensures operational compliance with the Open Meetings Act (OMA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Other

  • Participates in or leads internal and external projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received. Work is performed under the general supervision of Director of Economic Development & Policy.
Supervision Exercised. May supervise staff members and lead project teams as assigned.

Education, Training, Experience. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience managing budgets and/or personnel. Experience in governmental or economic development roles is preferred.
Any combination of experience and formal training that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position may be considered in place of the preferred qualifications.
Annual completion of Open Meetings Act and Freedom of Information Act training required.

    Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
