We are seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of construction processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all of the activities of a construction site according to project blueprints and schedule plans. Duties include coordinating subcontractors, performing quality control and safety checks and providing on-site direction on projects.

NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and specifications thoroughly.

  • Language Skills: This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively when needed.
  • Mathematical Skills: This position requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts and fractions.
  • Reasoning Ability: This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • License: Valid Driver License

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to Stand, Walk, and Sit for Extended Periods: The role may require standing or walking for extended periods on job sites, as well as sitting for meetings or during administrative tasks.
  • Stamina for Physical Activity: Must be able to perform tasks such as walking across construction sites, climbing stairs or ladders, and occasionally lifting or moving materials.
  • Ability to Lift and Carry Objects: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, such as carrying tools or materials across the site.
  • Climbing and Working at Heights: Must be comfortable working from scaffolds, ladders, or elevated platforms when inspecting or overseeing work.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle tools, equipment, and devices with precision when conducting inspections or working with site personnel.
  • Vision Requirements: Ability to read blueprints, construction documents, and equipment labels; must have good vision for site inspections and safety assessments.
  • Hearing Requirements: Must be able to hear and communicate clearly on noisy job sites, which may include the use of hearing protection devices.
  • Ability to Work in Varied Weather Conditions: This role involves outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.
  • Stamina for Long Work Hours: Flexibility to work long hours when needed to meet deadlines, complete projects, or handle emergencies.
  • Mobility: Ability to move quickly across the construction site and navigate various obstacles in construction environments (e.g., uneven ground, small spaces).

Responsibilities

This position frequently requires “hands-on” work, meaning while having the additional responsibilities of the items below:

  • Supervises and coordinates subcontractors and daily project scope
  • Responsible for on-the-job training, overseeing and supervision of employees
  • Ensures compliance with all safety regulations
  • Prepares and implements requirements and scheduling to meet all inspection and permit specifications
  • Manages project cost and schedule, including but not limited to: Assisting and preparing cost and schedule analysis. Ensuring estimating costs are obtained in field and production.
  • Responsible for researching and compiling requests for information (RFI)
  • Determines manpower requirements on a daily basis for Alliance employees including schedule and hours worked
  • Reviews, enforces, and ensures all parties abide by contract documents
  • Analyzes and documents daily progress and communicating pertinent information to owners/clients/project managers
  • Attends weekly progress meetings with all parties on-site to discuss quality control, safety, work coordination, schedule, concerns, etc.
  • Attends and presents information in meetings
  • Manages on-the-job performance of Alliance employees, including performance reviews, merit-based compensation recommendations, disciplinary action, including hiring recommendations and ability to remove from jobsite for policy violations, termination and lay-off authority of temporary employees
  • Working in collaboration with Project PM, determines/establishes means and methods of the day- to-day constructability and manpower needs of each project
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities ranging from 0-10 employees at any given time. In total, the subordinate supervisors/subcontractors can reach upwards of 150 depending on the size and type of project.
