JOB DESCRIPTION

Rock Construction & Mining Inc. is seeking a competent, experienced, self-motivated, and innovative Superintendent to join the operations team for projects in BC and across Canada. This role will be scheduled on agreed rotations, in line with project specific requirements. (E.g., 14/14, 21/7).

SKILLS, PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES & EXPERIENCE

· Must possess at least 5 years proven successful experience in mining and/or heavy civils management.
· Proven experience and knowledge in drill/blast operations is essential for this position.· Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills;
· Proven successful management experience.
· Analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills: ability to be decisive, forward plan and prioritize.
· Strong client liaison and conflict resolution skills and experience.
· Leadership: ability to influence the team to succeed through collaboration, while setting clear goals and expectations. As well as ability to delegate tasks effectively.
· Teamwork: ability to coordinate well with other management positions in the operations team as well as other divisions and field workers.
· Possess good judgement; be committed to safe operations and promotion of a positive culture.
· Target driven; able to meet deadlines and embrace challenges.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Advanced computer skills: MS Word, Excel and Teams will be utilized daily.
· Good rapport with customers and service oriented
· Open to travelling to work sites in BC, and across Canada while working on scheduled rotations.

WORKING CONDITIONS / JOB REQUIREMENTS

· Clean, valid drivers’ license.
· Successful candidates will be required to complete company and project-specific online training and orientation, including D&A clearance.

· BLASTING TICKETS AND RELATIVE EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED AN ASSET.

Responsibilities

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

  • Oversee daily operations on assigned projects.
  • Responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control, and safety measures as established and set for RCMI Operations.
  • Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
  • Organize logistics, equipment, manpower and materials. through other RCMI depts.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations, with adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Work with HR and H&S Manager to recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, mentor and discipline employees.
  • Prioritize and co-ordinate schedule requirements.
  • Daily review of production and field reports to ensure positive project progression and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Maintain production and job cost analysis reports were requested and/or required.
  • Monitor operational performance, maintain adequate records, prepare reports for senior management, and plan for changes to schedules and policies in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, implementing changes and monitoring performance.
  • Act as a liaison between project owner, management, and project team.
  • Serve as primary point of contact when there are client issues related to equipment quality, customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site.
  • Communicate site issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints.
  • Communicate with the H&S Manager to ensure all processes and procedures are maintained and remain compliant with health and safety regulations, industry standards and other governmental regulations.
  • Build on existing resources, to improve and expand operations.
  • Attend project pre-start meetings and ensure all required information and documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure any production delays are recorded and reported to the estimate team to ensure adequate documentation.
  • Attend project specific meetings and aid in conflict resolution at site level
