Description

The Project Superintendent plays a vital leadership role in executing Park Construction projects safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality. Responsible for day-to-day jobsite operations, the Superintendent oversees crew productivity, project scheduling, quality control, cost management, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position works closely with the Regional Manager and Project Manager to ensure the successful delivery of projects in accordance with plans, specifications, and client expectations.

KEY COMPETENCIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience supervising heavy civil construction projects
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of building demolition, excavation, site grading, foundation work, and final grading
  • Experience coordinating both self-performed and subcontractor scopes
  • Capable of troubleshooting field issues with minimal oversight
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
  • Proficient with construction software tools such as MS Outlook, HCSS Heavy Job®, and scheduling tools
  • Ability and willingness to travel for extended job assignments

Certifications & Preferred Experience

  • OSHA 30 Certification (required)
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (required)
  • Construction Stormwater Site Management Certification (preferred)
  • HAZWOPER, TWIC, MSHA, and Operator Qualification (preferred)
  • Previous experience as USACE CQC Manager or SSHO (a plus)

Responsibilities
  • Project Management & Execution:
    o Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely project completion
    o Coordinate with project managers during preconstruction to review project schedules and budgets
    o Set up and secure jobsite daily, including safety postings, temporary utilities, and layout of field office and staging areas
    o Ensure subcontractors comply with scope of work, schedule, and safety protocols
    o Perform and document daily quality control and job progress observations
    o Lead jobsite meetings with subcontractors and internal teams
    o Monitor and enforce jobsite cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance

o Manage project punch list and ensure completion of outstanding items

  • Safety & Compliance:

o Lead and enforce Park’s safety standards, programs, and expectations
o Identify and address safety, health, and environmental compliance issues
o Ensure that all required inspections and permits are scheduled and passed

o Serve as onsite safety leader, promoting a safety-first culture at all levels

  • Field Leadership & Supervision:

o Oversee subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure daily work aligns with project goals
o Support hiring, mentoring, and development of craft/trade employees
o Ensure accurate daily entries of employee time, equipment usage, and production quantities into HCSS Heavy Job or similar field software

o Support coordination and layout of work in the field (GPS layout experience preferred)

  • Client & Stakeholder Coordination:

o Communicate regularly with clients, inspectors, and engineers to ensure alignment and resolve issues
o Provide timely updates to Project Manager and General Superintendent on jobsite status
o Represent Park professionally at all times, fostering relationships that promote repeat business
