Description:

  • Work on leading edge projects for Defence engagements
  • Work with purpose delivering critical defence projects and programs for Australia
  • Investment in you – L&D, experienced mentors, and accessible leadership
At Downer Professional Services, you’ll find purpose, impact and huge opportunity. Join us and help make it happen.
A real endeavour, achieved with you
As Australia’s multi-disciplinary advisory and business partner of choice for clients in Defence, Government and infrastructure, we deliver complex things that matter. It’s not always an easy task, but anything worthwhile seldom is. Great things are rarely accomplished alone. We’re building something remarkable. Now we just need you.
A real endeavour, shaped by you
As our Project Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in delivering administrative and project support to project teams, taking on a pivotal position. Your responsibilities will revolve around ensuring the seamless execution of projects through active involvement in planning, monitoring, and reporting activities.

To succeed in this endeavour, you will:

  • Assist in project planning, resource allocation, and coordination with project managers and team members.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely achievement of milestones and deadlines.
  • Prepare project documentation, including plans, progress reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Monitor and track project progress, identify risks, issues, and propose remedial actions.
  • Coordinate project meetings, handling scheduling, agenda preparation, and documenting outcomes.
  • Facilitate effective communication, collaboration among project stakeholders, and support implementation of project management tools.

A real endeavour, driven by you

Our work is highly complex and confidential, so there are some things you must have to fulfil this role:

  • You must have and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
  • Relevant qualifications or professional development within the Project Management discipline.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within the Defence or professional services industries.
  • A natural ability to build trusted relationships with team members, customers, and partners.
  • Previous experience supporting projects in a government or Defence organisation. You’ll love process, coordination, and being in an environment that encourages collaboration and teamwork.
  • A strong track record in liaising with resources to ensure services are delivered for current and future demand.
  • Strong communication skills, and you’ll also be an analytical thinker who loves solving complex problems.

More than anything, you’ll bring a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a drive to manage critical projects and programs that build sovereign capability and deliver complex things that matter.

Responsibilities:
