Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Canberra to work on MIWS projects .

WHAT YOU’LL BRING [KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS]

  • Project & Contract Management – Experience with Defence approvals (S23, ETPs) and procurement processes
  • Financial & Budgeting Support – Ability to interpret financial data and assist with budgeting queries
  • Executive & Administrative Coordination – Skilled in inbox triage, task tracking, and Objective system management
  • Communication & Documentation – Strong writing skills for briefs, reports, and committee submissions
  • Compliance & Analytical Thinking – Understanding of Defence policies and ability to apply regulatory frameworks
    Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.

Responsibilities

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Coordinate contract management and funding approvals (S23, ETPs) under direction of the SEA4000 Deputy Director
  • Provide financial and budgeting support in collaboration with the Project Finance Lead and key stakeholders
  • Deliver surge support across project documentation, reporting, and committee submissions as directed by the Executive
  • Manage executive-level coordination including inbox triage, HoG tasking, and Objective structure administration

Support project teams and leadership with issue escalation, compliance interpretation, and functional assistance across Data, Risk, FIC, and Events
