JOB SUMMARY
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. Our primary responsibility is to protect energy consumers, especially the most vulnerable, while at the same time working with government, industry and consumer groups to deliver a clean, more affordable and secure net-zero energy system at the lowest cost to consumers, and drive economic growth.
We’re looking for a Project Support Officer to join the Ofgem’s Heat Networks Directorate, helping to shape and support the delivery of a new regulatory regime for the heat networks market.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to apply their organisational and project support skills to a high-impact programme. You’ll be part of a small, collaborative PMO team working to ensure the programme is well-governed, well-planned and delivering against its objectives.
You’ll support a wide range of activities, from supporting programme planning and risk management, to organising meetings, PMO administrative tasks, and helping to embed consistent PMO standards across the team. You’ll also play a key role in supporting governance arrangements, ensuring that meetings are well-run and that key actions and decisions are recorded and followed up.
You’ll bring experience of supporting projects or programmes, particularly in areas like planning, governance, and risk and issue management. You’ll be confident managing your own workload, juggling multiple priorities and communicating clearly with colleagues at all levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills will be essential, as will a proactive can-do attitude.
You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement by helping to assess and refine PMO tools and processes, and by supporting the development of templates and guidance that help the team work more effectively. Your work will directly support the delivery of a complex and fast-moving programme.
We’re looking for someone with experience supporting project or programme delivery, particularly in planning, governance, and risk and issue management, who can communicate clearly and confidently in both written and verbal formats, who is highly organised with the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload effectively.
This role offers the chance to work on a high-profile programme, contribute to a team that’s delivering meaningful change, and develop your career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
Join us at Ofgem, where your skills and passion can make a real impact!
