If so, we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking two enthusiastic Project Support Officers to join our team on a temporary contract until 31st March 2026. You will be working on an exciting new programme (Pathways to Work) that provides employment support services across the region.
The purpose of the role is to provide a high-quality frontline enquiry service to members of the public and professional agencies seeking information and guidance on the Pathways to Work provision.
As a Project Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for individuals and referring agencies interested in the provision.
You will be responsible for, effectively managing a range of enquiry calls and emails from referral agencies and members of the public, working with your colleagues to ensure all enquiries are responded to in line with Sheffield City Council standards, ensuring all participants progressing on the Pathways to Work provision meet the eligibility and suitability criteria as per contract guidance, carrying out triage calls with participants to collect and record personal information including barriers to employment, effectively signposting participants to the correct provision in line with their identified needs and maintaining accurate and up-to-date electronic case-notes on our systems.
As the ideal candidate, you will be a confident communicator with great people skills. You must possess a good level of attention to detail and be solution focused, along with the ability to learn new systems and maintain accurate records.
If you are excited by this role and feel you would add value to our team, we would love to hear from you.
The role is suitable for hybrid working but the office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days an individual can work at home will be determined by business need and other relevant circumstances.
For further information about the roles please contact lisa.scott@sheffield.gov.uk
Interviews are planned to take place on 27th June 2025.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.
It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
Equality of pay is extremely important to us. All roles at Sheffield City Council are going through an evaluation process which may result in changes to some pay arrangements from 2026. Find out more on our Sheff news page.
