Title: PROJECT SURVEYOR
Department: Survey
Reports To: Department Manager
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Land Surveying or Related Field
Registration: Professional Land Surveyor in the State of Indiana
Experience: Not less than 4 years in Land Surveying

SKILLS:

  • Able to work independently, with minimal instruction
  • Possess good communication skills
  • Able to work within a “team concept”
  • Proficient in the use of the Indiana Design Manual – Part III Location Surveys
  • Proficient in the use of the State of Indiana Administrative Code – Rules 12 and 13
  • Working knowledge of the INDOT Design Process
  • Working knowledge of the INDOT Land Acquisition Process
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Ability to meet deadlines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to work seated for 9 or more hours per workday
  • Able to work 40 or more hours per work week, as needed
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to travel throughout Indiana, including overnight stays
  • Able to perform survey field work and drive a survey vehicle
  • Able to carry survey equipment while traversing uneven or difficult terrain

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license
  • Maintain compliance with the MICCS program
  • Agree to abide by the personnel policies identified in the Company Policy
  • Designated as a flexible position as defined in the Company Policy.

Responsibilities
  • Manage survey projects from the research phase to the final delivery
  • Provide survey staff and field crews with support for all projects
  • Provide support to the Surveying Department Manager
  • Assist in proposal preparation
  • Perform project research
  • Prepare field books, legal descriptions, route surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, 3D surfaces, ALTA/ACSM Surveys, and data for construction staking
  • Assist in downloading and uploading information to data collectors
  • Process field data
  • Communicate with field crews and office staff to provide quality services
  • Communicate with clients, other consultants, and government officials for project-related items
  • Compose meeting agendas and minutes
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding clients and company practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
