JOB TITLE: Projectionist and Stage Technician   DEPARTMENT: Public Programming  REPORTS TO: Director, Public Programming  CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt  REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: Museum-Based    GENERAL SUMMARY  Under the supervision of the Director, Public Programming, the Projectionist and Stage Technician is responsible for all technical aspects of screening films in the museum including community partner and corporate rental screenings and supports staging public programs including music, family programs, dance, theatre, and other productions. The role ensures that programs are presented to visitors, partners, and clients in a manner consistent with DIA strategic goals, and policies, while providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for audiences.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  * Communicate with distributors to gather, confirm, and return film media, report any media issues to appropriate contacts. * Prepare media and equipment including, transcoding and encoding, inspection, testing, media; optimize projection equipment based on specific aspect ratios, sound formats and run-of-show configurations. * Report content condition to distributor and ensure security of media from hand-off to hand-back. * Operate analog and digital projection equipment for all museum film programing held throughout the DIA. * Start all programs on schedule, anticipate technical issues, avoid missed cues and prevent equipment malfunctions that might interrupt programming. * Operate and support projection booth computer hardware and other interface gear, including cable and switching devices. * Perform basic maintenance, and schedule and coordinate professional maintenance and repair of projection equipment. * Assist with general non-film audio-visual tasks onstage based on programming needs and schedule. * Safely operate the technical systems of the theatre, including the lighting, sound, communications, and projection equipment.  * Support live sound and stage production for music, including basic soundboard operation and backstage for films or related programming.  * Set up and operate equipment safely in order to enhance live events and programs.   * Assist with set load-in and set-up for productions. * Apply DIA values to interactions to support a culture of belonging among internal and external stakeholders. * Perform other duties as assigned.    QUALIFICATIONS    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE   High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Four (4) years of experience in film, video, and digital cinema projection systems.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES   * Experience with digital projectors, Christie Digital Projector preferred.  * Experience with analog projectors, Kinoton 35mm/16mm Analog Projector preferred. * Experience with media playback software Playback Pro System preferred. * Working knowledge of basic lightboard operations, ETC preferred. * Working knowledge of basic soundboard operations, digital preferred. * Experience as stagehand preferred. * Must have demonstrated active listening and communication skills and an ability to communicate clearly and professionally. * Demonstrated skills to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet deadlines and goals. * Demonstrated ability to work with attention to detail and produce accurate results. * Ability to communicate with, coordinate, and oversee vendors to meet expectations and deadlines. * Ability to identify challenges and opportunities, engage others in their resolution, and recommend appropriate course of action. * Ability to work regular weekend, evening, and holiday hours. * Must be proficient in the latest version of Office 365.  * Must have proficiency in the use of remote work technology such as scheduling with, connecting to, and using digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams. * Must be able to establish and maintain professional, productive, and courteous interactions that promote positive teamwork.  This encompasses going beyond giving and receiving instructions and includes but is not limited to (a) performing work activities requiring interacting or speaking with others; and (b) responding appropriately to constructive feedback or suggestions for improvement from a supervisor.     PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
