About the Role: The Property Accountant plays a critical role in managing the financial integrity and reporting accuracy for real estate assets within the organization. This position is responsible for maintaining detailed accounting records, ensuring compliance with real estate tax regulations, and supporting corporate accounting functions. The Property Accountant will oversee account reconciliations, prepare balance sheets, and manage general ledger entries to provide clear and accurate financial information. Utilizing specialized accounting systems such as Yardi, the role ensures that all property-related financial transactions are recorded and reported in a timely manner. Ultimately, this position supports strategic decision-making by delivering precise financial data and facilitating successful financial audits. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Proven experience in property accounting or real estate financial management. * Strong knowledge of account reconciliation, general ledger maintenance, and balance sheet preparation. * Familiarity with real estate tax regulations and compliance requirements. * Proficiency in Yardi Systems or similar property accounting software. Preferred Qualifications: * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification. * Experience with corporate accounting practices and financial audit processes. * Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. * Prior experience working in the real estate and rental leasing industry. * Knowledge of additional accounting systems and ERP software. Responsibilities: * Perform monthly account reconciliations for property-related accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. * Manage and process real estate tax payments and related documentation in compliance with local and federal regulations. * Maintain and update the general ledger with all property accounting transactions, ensuring proper classification and accuracy. * Utilize Yardi Systems to record, track, and report financial data related to property management activities. * Prepare and review balance sheets and other financial statements specific to real estate assets. * Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to support financial audits and ensure compliance with corporate accounting standards. * Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies or areas for improvement in accounting processes. * Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts related to property operations and financial performance. Skills: The Property Accountant uses account reconciliation skills daily to verify the accuracy of financial records and resolve discrepancies.
