THE POSITION:

The Property Accountant will manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties, responsible for providing accurate and timely financial packages

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial property accounting role required.
  • Experience with technology and accounting systems within a real estate environment; experience with Yardi is preferred.
  • Experience in reviewing and interpreting commercial leases.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and full-cycle financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills; adept at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a professional manner.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities; capable of handling competing priorities within tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on producing accurate, high-quality documentation and deliverables.
  • Adaptable and solutions-focused, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to recommend and implement process enhancements for greater efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing monthly financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Preparing accrual/adjusting entries and assisting in year-end procedures;
  • Responding to financial and accounting enquiries from Property Management; providing financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as requested;
  • Preparing bank reconciliations for assigned portfolio;
  • Reconciling and filing GST remittances;
  • Reviewing tenancy agreements or commercial leases for accurate billing and compliance with financial terms; processing move-ins and move outs;
  • Ensuring tenant information is accurate and up to date including reviewing and posting rent roll, and then processing monthly PAP’s;
  • Preparation of CAM reconciliations and annual budgets;
  • Coordinating and providing support during Trust audit;
  • Other duties as assigned by management;
