Description

We are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our clients in Burnaby, British Columbia. This 6 month contract opportunity, you will handle a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and rent collection, while contributing to the overall efficiency of our property management operations. This role has the potential to go permanent and is 100% on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including processing and coding high volumes of invoices weekly.
  • Oversee accounts receivable functions, ensuring accurate and timely rent collection and payment processing.
  • Initiate communication with tenants regarding rent collections and escalate unresolved matters to management as needed.
  • Generate financial reports and assist with basic administrative tasks, such as filing and document management.
  • Collaborate with property managers and internal accounting team members to streamline operations.
  • Support ad hoc projects and tasks to maintain smooth workflow within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies while working onsite.
  • Utilize Yardi software for property management accounting tasks and maintain data accuracy.
  • Assist with onboarding and training processes for new team members when required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in property management; candidates with 1 year of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • Familiarity with Yardi software is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with tenants, property managers, and team members.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a cubicle office environment.
  • Fully vaccinated in compliance with onsite work requirements.
