As Property Leasing Specialist, you’ll sit at the heart of DOC’s leased property portfolio—negotiating smart outcomes, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring our people work in safe, fit-for-purpose environments that enable the protection of nature. This role supports the effective and efficient management of DOC’s leased commercial and residential property portfolio. You’ll lead lease negotiations, manage relationships with landlords and government partners, and provide trusted specialist advice across the organisation. Working closely with Site Leads, Property and Fleet Operations, senior leaders, and external stakeholders, you’ll help ensure DOC’s leased environments are sustainable, compliant, and aligned with strategic and All-of-Government property objectives. The position will be focussed on: Lead end-to-end lease management including negotiations, renewals, reviews, expiries, and terminations across DOC’s portfolio Build and manage strong relationships with landlords, government agencies, and partners, including co-location agreements and MOUs Provide specialist lease advice and risk-based insights to internal stakeholders and senior leaders, translating complex information into clear recommendations Manage lease financials, datasets, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, budget alignment, and timely issue escalation Contribute to continuous improvement, policy development, and strategic planning to strengthen DOC’s property leasing practices Click here for the Role Description Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you: A relevant qualification in property, business, asset management, valuation, or a related field Proven experience in corporate or public-sector property lease management, including complex negotiations Strong knowledge of property legislation and regulatory frameworks, including the Property Law Act 2007 Commercial acumen with demonstrated financial planning, budget management, and cost-control skills Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups Confidence working across systems and data, including SAP EAM and Microsoft Office tools Ability to lead through influence and collaborate across regions and disciplines A current full driver licence He aha ngā pāinga mōu? | What’s in it for you?
