Responsibilities

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The Property Maintenance is responsible for supporting the Property Manager in the day-to-day operations of our supportive housing properties.

ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS:

  • Utilize property management software to track maintenance requests.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting for property-related expenses.

·Knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in this role

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in property management or related field is preferred).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position, demonstrating a proven track record in property management and hands-on maintenance.
  • Relevant certifications in property management or maintenance are considered a valuable asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with property management software is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and other maintenance tasks.
  • In-depth knowledge of property laws, regulations, and leasing agreements.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Residential Tenancies Act.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or supportive housing setting is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to mental health and substance use challenges; trauma-informed communication skills are strongly preferred.
  • Ability to de-escalate tense situations and engage with tenants respectfully.
  • Ability to deal with clients in a respectful manner, ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Strong work ethic with an emphasis on attention to detail and reliability.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving abilities in various work situations.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, capable of handling multiple units, tasks, and projects simultaneously.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle, as regular travel to a portfolio of properties will be required.
  • Access to own tools is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of job safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
