QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. NEBOSH certified would be desired.
  • Proven experience in mechanical and engineering management, preferably within luxury hotels or high-end hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, energy management, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As the Head of Property, you will oversee the strategic management and operational excellence of our luxury hotel properties. You will ensure that all mechanical and engineering systems are maintained to the highest standards, drive efficiency, and enhance guest satisfaction through superior property management practices.
You will be either Mechanically or Electrically qualified and retain sound knowledge of MEP installations and building fabric maintenance. Acting as a guardian of quality and standards, you will retain overall responsibility for maintenance delivery and compliance. You will work closely with Hotel General Managers and Head of People Culture and will form part of the Operational Leadership Team. This role requires regular travel between our UK hotel locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and execute a strategic vision for mechanical and engineering management that aligns with the company’s mission and long-term goals.

  • Lead, mentor, and manage property engineering teams to ensure performance, engagement, and alignment with company values.
  • Maintain strong on-site presence, oversee Lead Maintenance Engineers, and ensure maintenance provision across the portfolio.
  • Drive recruitment, training, and ongoing development, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and statutory maintenance while maintaining accurate records. Lead risk assessments, audits, and training to uphold a safe environment.
  • Oversee emergency planning, Legionella management, and fire safety documentation.
  • Act as the technical lead in HS committees, enforce policies, and conduct safety tours to ensure operational excellence.
  • Oversee the design, planning, and execution of mechanical systems, ensuring efficient operations and reliability across properties. Lead maintenance and repairs, resolving issues promptly to minimise disruptions. Implement preventative maintenance regimes, conduct benchmarking, and collaborate with hotel GMs to uphold upkeep standards.
  • Develop and implement energy strategies to optimise usage, reduce costs, and promote sustainability while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. Drive efficiency through technology adoption, proactive monitoring, and targeted initiatives to lower hotels’ environmental impact.
  • Oversee Building Management Systems, provide technical support, and lead Green Teams in utility tracking and reduction efforts. Maintain regulatory compliance, analyse consumption data, and ensure proper certification and waste management procedures.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for maintenance, repairs, and installations, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Project manage all refurbishment or capital expenditure projects cost-effectively, ensuring compliance and meeting health and safety standards.
