Description Summary/Objective As the Property Tax Advisor, you will be responsible for keeping J Joseph’s clients compliant and up to date with property tax liabilities. Client relationships are a key metric at J Joseph. Therefore, the Property Tax Advisor will work collaboratively with their team and other departments across the company to provide clients with a superior level of service. The Advisor will be part of a collaborative work culture. While serving our clients, the Property Tax Advisor has an obligation to leave no stone unturned. J. Joseph has physical offices in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston, but we will consider candidates from any location that meet the criteria. Essential Functions Provide client data analysis, market value and exemption positions for client assets Prepare Interstate Foreign Commerce (IFC) filing for applicable accounts Send data requests to obtain income expense, rent roll, occupancy, fixed asset and other financial and property related information Prepare and submit property tax renditions, returns and exemption applications for the client Ensure tax code and tax law compliance by reviewing outgoing paperwork (i.e. renditions) Communicate with clients and taxing authorities in a professional manner Utilization of approved technologies and processes Leave no stone unturned when preparing tax forms for clients by reviewing all possible savings strategies Prepare property tax appeals and attend informal and formal hearings Maintain good working relationships with Property Tax Assessors and Appraisers Maintain internal processes and procedures and ensure they are up to date Participate in process improvement efforts to increase productivity, efficiency and decrease costs at J. Joseph Stay up to date on property tax law including legislative changes and maintain property tax license Create and implement systematic checks for all deadline driven deliverables (e.g. – renditions, protests, exemptions, etc.) Confirm all property tax related requests are completed and received by J Joseph and our clients Accurately enter data into CRM (Dynamics) and technical database (SigerTax) Onboard new clients by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures for them Maintain relationships with assigned portfolio accounts Provide in-depth real estate property tax analysis using methods such as: income, equal and uniform, and market Attend Conferences/Continuing education for TDLR Ensures compliance by reviewing and analyzing data received from clients and producing appropriate compliance forms such as rendition, exemption and other required forms and information Follow all JJC Best Practices Prepare information and data for use as evidence in property tax hearings and appeals Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure that the best possible client service experience is provided In conjunction with Account Executive, debrief clients Maintain Deadlines, Hearings and Open Issues report Operate from JJC’s Vision & Mission Statement Adhere to JJC’s Corporate Values Ability to operate motor vehicle Other duties as assigned Requirements Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may be responsible for training Property Tax Administrative Assistants in their business unit.
