Summary: The Proposal Development Specialist in Research & Innovation primarily provides comprehensive support for developing grant proposals and secondarily provides marketing assistance. This position operates under moderate supervision with opportunities for initiative and independent judgment. The role involves collaborating with faculty staff and external stakeholders to ensure the preparation of competitive and well-structured grant proposals and providing support for marketing strategies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

Support faculty and staff in designing and preparing grant proposals at each process phase, including analyzing the solicitation, assessing, summarizing, and outlining proposal requirements, strategy consultations, and supporting engagement with funding agencies.
Assist and support drafting letters of intent, institutional letters, and other non-scientific documents.
Support faculty and staff in preparing and reviewing proposals by providing qualitative and editorial reviews of proposal drafts and specific content within the proposal.
Facilitate internal and external review of proposals.
Conduct in-depth analysis and research on funding agencies, funding opportunities, and agency programs.
Monitor the funding landscape for opportunities aligned with faculty and staff research interests and University priorities.
Analyze and provide summaries of funding announcements.
Support faculty and staff with strategic post-submission consultations on unfunded proposals, developing a strategy for re-submission opportunities.
Build knowledge of campus research strengths through relationships with staff and faculty.
Prepare and disseminate email communications, including funding opportunities, workshops, and events.
Prepare marketing collateral, including, but not limited to, email bulletins, digital/print graphics, video recording and editing, one-pagers, and program briefs.
Assist in developing guides and toolkits for effectively using online tools and processes, which will enhance proposal development and departmental goals.
Assist in developing, facilitating, and presenting programs, workshops, and training.
Assist in the development and periodic updating of website content.
Analyze departmental data, creating reports and graphics to track and improve processes.
Stay abreast of university policies and federal and state regulations governing sponsored research administration.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
