Job description:
Our reputable accounting firm and SAIPA training center in Durban is seeking a motivated and independent trainee who aspires to become a Professional Accountant.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (include but are not limited to):

  • Gaining exposure to the competencies and documentation required by the SAIPA Training Program over the course of the trainee ship
  • Performing bookkeeping, accounting reports, and related services
  • Conducting assurance, review, and compilation of Annual Financial Statements
  • Calculating taxes, submitting VAT201 and EMP201 forms
  • Providing ad hoc related services
  • Completing any other related tasks

SKILLS REQ:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and software, with the ability to quickly learn new programs
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel; familiarity with Draftworx and Pastel is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical skills, able to work well under pressure while maintaining accuracy and quality of work
  • Able to meet deadlines and work independently without constant supervision
  • Eager to learn and grow in the position while furthering your traineeship
    Currently pursuing or holding a BCom Degree or similar qualification.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Education:

  • Diploma (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Accounting software: 1 year (Preferred)
