Prosthetic Officer | The Wesley Hospital
Employment Term: Permanent Part Time (3 days/ week - 0.6 FTE)
Location: Auchenflower, just 5 mins from Toowong Shopping Village and 10 mins from Brisbane City
Remuneration: $37.71 - $39.19/ hr + 12% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging

Your part in The Wesley Hospital team

Working closely with Level 2 Nurses, other Scrub Scout Nurses and Specialists will ensure the provision of appropriate Surgical Prosthetics, with accurate recording of prosthetics used at the point of care, ensuring the ability to track individually to patients and accurate billing to health funds.

  • The position will take responsibility for prosthetics and consignment stock in the Clinical Store Rooms
  • ordering and stock management
  • The role will use their knowledge from working in a Perioperative environment to understand the processes of how prosthetics are recorded and processed, including providing education to all related Nursing staff to increase awareness and importance of recording prosthetics at point of care (in theatre).
  • The position will also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team involving clinical and non-clinical staff in the preparation for Hospital and UCH Group wide projects such as; Surginet and the Digital Medical Record.
  • The position will liaise closely with Corporate Service functions such as; the Supply Department , Manager of Patient Administration to ensure the accurate billing of all appropriate prosthesis is undertaken, and the Management Accountant and Director Corporate Services. It will also work with surgical companies to manage consignment stock and transfer responsibility of the cost of expired stock to the supplier.
  • The position will also use their specialist knowledge to support the Central Sterilising Services Department in the process of managing loan sets

  • Ability to plan and coordinator patient care requiring prosthetics
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills in Word and Excel as a minimum
  • Proven ability to prioritise and have attention to detail
