OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a motivated Scientist to support the Protein Science team in the production of recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies, multispecific scaffolds, and novel protein modalities for early discovery research. This individual will play a key role in executing and developing mammalian cell culture and purification workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and propagate CHO cells in suspension culture to support ongoing projects.
  • Perform transient and stable transfections for protein expression in mammalian cells (CHO, HEK293).
  • Express and purify a variety of proteins including monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, VHHs, Fabs, and Fc-Fusions using resin and magnetic-bead immunoprecipitation methods.
  • Execute fed-batch experiments across multiple platforms including shake flasks (125 mL to 5 L), tube spins, and multi-well plates.
  • Conduct analytical measurements including:
  • Cell growth analysis
  • Metabolite profiling
  • HPLC-based titer analysis
  • SDS-PAGE, UPLC, CESDS, NanoDrop, UV-Vis
  • Maintain and troubleshoot mammalian cell culture systems.
  • Accurately document all experimental data and processes using electronic lab notebooks (ELN).
  • Prepare reports and effectively communicate results to internal teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • B.S. in Biochemistry, Cell/Molecular Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in industry or academia
  • OR M.S. degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Technical Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and media preparation
  • Proficient in aseptic techniques and use of single-use systems such as deep-well plates and shake flasks
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both transient and stable transfections in CHO and HEK293 cells
  • Foundational experience with protein purification and basic quality control

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with high-throughput and automated systems
  • Experience in batch purification using a variety of scaffolds
  • Prior industry experience is highly desirable

Software & Analytical Skills:

  • Familiarity with biological data collection and instrumentation tools (e.g., Vi-Cell, metabolite analyzers)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and electronic lab notebooks (ELN)
  • Experience with data/reagent management tools such as Dotmatics, Benchling, or Spotfire (preferred
