MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
- You are licensed Professional Engineer in good standing with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
- You must have a valid class ‘G’ driver’s licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver’s license upon being hired.
You will be required to:
- travel including remote locations through various modes of transportation
- carry and maintain assigned OPS assets
- work outside in varied weather and climate conditions when required in the field
- use in the prescribed circumstances and manner all prescribed safety materials, equipment, devices, and clothing
- work in environmentally challenging or physically demanding conditions (e.g., work in confined spaces, climb ladders, standing or walking for a significant period)
- manage hazardous materials
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
You have knowledge of:
- theories, concepts, principles and practices of Civil engineering, Telecommunication Tower, Antenna mount Systems, Power Systems, and Information Technology engineering to provide leadership and definitive engineering expertise
- civil infrastructure design, practices and operation including towers, generators, shelters, antennas
- industry standards (e.g., CSA37, TSSA, ESA, Civil Telecom industry standards and best practice, etc.) to provide strategic engineering advice, including systems analysis, civil infrastructure design, development, testing and implementation methods, tools and techniques, technology data, and networking techniques
- You have the ability to oversee and validate civil infrastructure design to meet service level metrics including availability, reliability to be able to ensure compliance with contractual performance metrics and meet the needs of public safety clients
- You can lead, manage, and validate network design and operations to meet service level metrics like availability, reliability, and coverage
COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS
You can:
- provide strategic and leading-edge consultation to lead engineering policy, procedures and program development
- liaise with various clients to discuss changes to applicable standards and regulations, Civil, antenna mount system issues or design changes
- liaise with external public safety users (municipal, provincial, federal, international), industries, industrial or trade associations, and consultants to identify and cultivate partnership opportunities
- establish and maintain effective working relationships and linkages with a broad range of partners and stakeholders
- lead project status meetings or planning sessions
- provide engineering advice in dispute negotiations between unions and the Employer
- provide expert briefings and recommendations to senior management and executives on highly contentious Civil related issues
- develop and document standards detailing specifications for shelter design, power system design and performance for vendors
ANALYTICAL AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS
You can:
- lead identification of contentious technology issues
- interpret risk assessment findings and resolve escalated technical issues with vendors
- identify opportunities for new civil, power system-related technologies
- review and approve civil design, construction drawings, and key deliverable and ensure technical feasibility and integration within the network
- analyze options for technical solutions to network issues and provide costing input for operational plans and budget requests
COMPUTER SKILLS
- You demonstrate proficiency in computer software packages, technical databases, and software tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Visio, Excel, AutoCAD) to prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations
