  • MBBS or equivalent, Currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical board of Australia
  • Have obtained FRANZCOG or in their final years of training or equivalent specialist training program.
  • Have performed satisfactorily as a Trainee for at least 4 years, at least 2 years in a hospital with level V neonatal facilities and tertiary referral Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
  • A demonstrated ability for basic/clinical research.
  • Suitable for centrally appointed RANZCOG subspecialty training in MFM or advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound
  • Interest in women’s health and ability to communicate with women and their families.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  • Ability to take responsibility and initiative
Responsibilities

This is a recognised post for subspecialty training in CMFM within the integrated department of Ultrasound in obstetrics and Gynaecology and Maternal Fetal Medicine . It provides the opportunity for a tailored sessional program in critical obstetric care, diabetes management, hypertension in pregnancy, multiple pregnancy and management of preterm labour. The department offers intrauterine fetal laser therapy/cord occlusion for management of complicated twin pregnancies. The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship aims to develop clinical skills in maternal medicine, genetic counselling, obstetric ultrasound, antepartum testing, external cephalic version, and invasive procedures including chorionic villous sampling, amniocentesis, fetal blood sampling and intrauterine transfusion. There are weekly educational meetings in High Risk Obstetrics. Protected time is available for approved research projects. RPA Women and Babies is a major tertiary referral service with 5000 deliveries per annum.
