Description
Overview Under the supervision of the Center for Sleep Disorders Director, the Polysomnographic Technologist performs all types of diagnostic testing offered in the department. Functions include equipment and patient calibration, set-up, performance, documentation, and troubleshooting of Polysomnographic recordings, tabulation and processing of test information, sleep laboratory logistical operations. Also performs oversight, education and training of PSG and student technologists during the work shift. Participates in performance improvement program and new program development. Assumes responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provides care to these patients through assessment, observation and documentation. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described within. Work is primarily independent. Job requires demonstrated ability to perform emergency procedures. Ability to work in a stressful environment under minimal supervision. Proficiency in organizational and prioritizing skills required. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English required. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required. Certification or Registered preferred. Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules. Non-registered technologists and technicians must complete the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment. Experience: Incumbent must have demonstrated proficiency in the performance of Polysomnographic recordings, in the scoring and analysis of Polysomnographic recordings. Licenses/Certificates: Current BLS required.
