Job Title: PSM Maintenance Supervisor
Location: JBS Omaha Beef Plant
Reporting to: PSM/B&E Superintendent

EXPECTED EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Be proficient in Word and Excel applications.
  • AutoCAD experience is advantageous.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems and related PSM requirements is preferred.
  • Working and technical knowledge of refrigeration, maintenance systems, equipment installation/startups, and plant utility equipment is preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors and contractors is preferred.
  • Must be familiar with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to act as a team member and leader.
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and leadership qualities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical demands include but not limited to

  • Occasional activities include upright, recumbent, prostrate, traversing the workplace, transporting heavy objects, pushing, pulling, climbing heights, accessing high or low objects, keyboard or text input, balancing, fine movements, and repetitive motions.
  • Heavy exertion sometimes involves applying 50-100 lbs of force, with frequent efforts of over 50 lbs or continuous exertion of 10-20 lbs.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

Maintain the facility’s process safety management program in accordance with JBS Omaha’s corporate Ammonia Refrigeration Management program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Coordinate and ensure all PHA’s are performed as required.
  • Maintain the PSM program assuring it is always audit-ready.
  • Organize and document monthly PSM team meetings, including meeting minutes.
  • Track and document the follow-up on all PHA recommendations until closure.
  • Track and document the follow-up on all Compliance Audit “Exceptions” and “Other Corrective Actions.”
  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly updates with the Plant Engineer and affected employees on all open PHA items.
  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly updates to the Plant Engineer and affected employees on all open Compliance Audit Exceptions and Recommendations.
  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly updates to the Plant Engineer and affected employees on all open Mechanical Integrity Inspection defects.
  • Assist facility Safety in managing the Hot Work Program and Emergency Action Plan.
  • Write detailed preventive maintenance procedures for all ammonia equipment, and revise them as needed.
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all ammonia equipment and keep them current and accurate, updating as needed.
  • Certify operating procedures annually to ensure they are current and accurate. Support environmental issues related to the Ammonia Refrigeration System. Lead PSM efforts across all shifts by establishing, organizing, planning, and implementing the PSM program and corporate ammonia initiatives.
  • Ensure Refrigeration Operators are trained and that training is documented.
  • Update the facility PSM program following revisions from the JBS Omaha Corporate PSM Team.
  • Follow proper PSM documentation and procedures (such as MOC, Line Break, and PHA) on all ammonia projects.
  • Coordinate best practices related to ammonia across the plant and promote continuous improvement.
  • Participate in monthly Corporate PSM Coordinator conference calls.
  • Attend the annual JBS Omaha Ammonia Safety & Best Practices Workshop. Network with the JBS Omaha PSM Team to stay aligned, current on information, and updated on initiatives shared across all JBS Omaha ammonia refrigeration facilities.
  • Access up-to-date “Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices.”
  • For Ammonia Refrigeration, this is the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR).
  • Associate Membership in the IIAR provides full access to all IIAR Codes & Standards.
  • Membership can be established after placement in the role of PSM Coordinator.
