Description
In this role, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality mental health care to patients across a wide range of psychiatric disorders. Primary responsibilities include performing thorough assessments, diagnosing conditions, and designing effective treatment plans that may include therapy and medication management. You will work within a collaborative team environment, focusing on patient-centered care and advocating for mental health and wellness. Bilingual Spanish speaking PMHNP's already enrolled in Medicaid encouraged to apply. Perform comprehensive mental health assessments and evaluations of patients. Diagnose psychiatric conditions and formulate individualized treatment plans. Offer medication management and supportive therapy, considering the diverse needs of patients. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic patient care. Educate patients and families about mental health issues and treatment options. Document patient care and maintain accurate records in line with agency policies. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay informed of the best practices. Contribute to case discussions and collaborate on treatment goals for improved patient outcomes. EDUCATION REQUIRED: Master's Degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health. EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED: At least two (2) years of experience in psychiatric nursing or a related field. Proficient in assessing and treating a variety of psychiatric disorders. Able to build meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in electronic health records and basic computer applications. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Board-certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State. Current certification in CPR/ BLS.
