Description TITLE: PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) reports to the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Department Director (PMHNPDD). RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct Psychiatric Evaluations: Perform comprehensive mental status exams and diagnostic assessments. Arrange timely follow-up to ensure stabilization. • Manage Psychopharmacology: Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications safely. Coordinate and manage any necessary labs or EKG testing with PCP. Stable patients with low complexity medication regimens may have their care transitioned to the PCP, with PCP and patient communication. • Coordinate Interdisciplinary Care: Partner with PCPs, therapists, community health workers and others as appropriate. • Document Clinical Data: Maintain precise electronic health record (EHR) files in compliance with regulations. • Coordinate with MCPAP and Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) as appropriate for pediatric patients. • Serve as a resource for all staff regarding information about prescribing and managing psychopharmacological agents. • Initiate transfers to specialized psychiatric services as needed. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: · Must have a current Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner license, DEA Registration, MA Controlled Substance Registration, and credentials to practice as a PMHNP · Must have at least 2 years experience as a PMHNP. · Expected to have a strong commitment to community health and care of underserved populations
