Description The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care to adolescents and young adults in a residential treatment setting. This role involves psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery, stabilization, and long-term mental health. With over 15 unique locations, we manage and support 500 dedicated employees serving over 300 residential clients daily located across five states: California, Idaho, Maine, New Hampshire, and Texas. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive, culturally responsive medical and psychiatric evaluations for adolescent and young adult residents upon admission and as clinically indicated. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, including psychopharmacological interventions. Prescribe, adjust, and manage psychiatric medications, ensuring safe, effective, and evidence-based care. Collaborate seamlessly with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, case managers, and other team members to coordinate holistic treatment. Provide psychoeducation to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and medication adherence. Build trusting relationships with clients and their families through exceptional communication and empathy. Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, case reviews, and staff consultations. Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis stabilization as needed. Adhere to all state, federal, and facility policies, including standards for confidentiality, safety, and professional ethics. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications MSN-Nurse Practitioner in California Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner with Post Masters Psych certification PMHNP Active California state License with DEA or DEA in process Minimum 2 years of psychiatric experience; experience with adolescents and young adults strongly preferred. Strong background in trauma-informed care, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions. Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of healthcare professionals. Solid computer and basic technology skills. Schedule Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm with weekend on call rotation.
