JOB SUMMARY:

CASES is a New York City agency working at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create community success opportunities. The Clinic division consists of a continuum of services for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness; The Nathaniel Clinic is an OMH-licensed mental health outpatient treatment and recovery services clinic that provides outpatient mental health services to adolescents and adults, with a focus on providing care to those involved in the criminal legal system.
The PNP/PMHNP/NPP will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing coordinated clinical assessments and assertive treatment in all stages of illness. The team nurse practitioner engages the consumer in shared decision making about medication and the next steps in medication treatment. Medication management will be guided by a medication algorithm that provides information about evolving best practices.
Salary: The salary range for this role is $160,000 - $170,000 per year.
Shift Hours: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is full-time and/or part-time position working Monday – Friday from 10:00am – 6:00pm, or 11:00am – 7:00pm. For part-time working a minimum of 2-3 days per week (14-21 hours per week).
Location Address : The position may be based either fully at 2090 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Boulevard, 4th Floor, New York, NY 10027, or split between offices at 424 E. 147th Street, Bronx, NY 10455. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.
Workplace Flexibility: In Person (staff roles designated as fully in person are eligible for in- person workplace differential pay).

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate clinical treatment in accordance with the scope of practice and regulations governing Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics
  • Conduct up to 12-14 follow ups or 4-6 IPEs per day
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments
  • Assist clients, family members, and significant others with concern and empathy
  • Work in collaboration with clients, family, and other collaterals to support recovery goals
  • Respond to walk-ins and unscheduled client needs and provide expedited services to clients based on risk assessment status
  • Prescribe medications indicated by diagnosis and lab results, teach clients about side effects, and monitor response to prescribed medications
  • Complete buprenorphine training and obtain the waiver to prescribe
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and registered nurses providing specific goals and measurable objectives for inclusion in person/family-centered treatment plans
  • Ensure services are person/family-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed
  • Promote integration of primary care working collaboratively with the onsite Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) medical providers and the clinic’s nurses to ensure the effective delivery of health monitoring services
  • Promote and deliver integrated treatment to consumers with co-occurring substance use disorders
  • Utilize best and evidence-based approaches to treatment consistent with CASES’ organizational culture; health/mental health integration, rehabilitation and recovery, and understanding incarceration on treatment engagement
  • Provide culturally competent services that are individualized to client needs and reflect the integration of race, ethnicity, culture, primary language, immigration status, developmental status, criminal justice status, sexuality, age, and genderHelps maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring proper use and disposal of medical supplies/equipment as required, adheres to infection control protocols, and notifies their supervisor immediately of any potential safety hazard identified in the office/client-care environment.
