About this role The Psychiatric Services Director provides comprehensive psychiatric care to patients and ensures compliance with all legal and professional standards. They oversee and supervise the psychiatric team, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and trainees. The role involves timely evaluations, treatment, documentation, and monitoring of patients, especially those prescribed psychotropic medications. The Director coordinates with medical, mental health, and administrative staff to ensure effective care delivery and uniformity of services. They also provide consultation, training, and on-call psychiatric support while assisting with patient transfers and higher-level care needs. Additional Details Monday - Friday / Day shift Leadership experience required minimum 5 years Oversight of other psychiatrists and psychiatry services provided at Broward County Detention Centers (4) Must hold Medical License Internal applicants must apply via Internal Portal What you bring to the table EDUCATION Medical Doctor (MD) or Osteopathic Doctor (DO) from an accredited university EXPERIENCE Experience in treating psychiatric disorders Experience in acute care and/or institutional setting preferred Skilled in organization, supervision, and state-of-the-art treatment interventions LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Licensed or licensable in the state of employment Board certification in Psychiatry and Neurology is preferred CPR Certified What you will do Provide and document psychiatric evaluations, treatments, and patient consent in accordance with professional and institutional standards. Supervise psychiatric staff, trainees, and advanced practice providers while coordinating care with medical and mental health leadership. Monitor patients on psychotropic medications, manage side effects, and ensure follow-up evaluations at least every 90 days. Facilitate patient transfers, higher-level care arrangements, and civil commitments when necessary. Provide consultation, training, and on-call psychiatric services while approving medication use and ensuring compliance with formulary guidelines.
