QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in psychiatry preferred; must be MD specialty in psychiatry and three (3) years related experience.
  • Must have a license or certification as required by the state of Ohio.
  • Board certified in psychiatry.
  • A valid driver’s license in the state of Ohio with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the mental health program and services of the facility.
  • Accept referrals for inmate evaluations; make necessary judgments and recommendations.
  • Coordinate mental health referrals to other resources when deemed appropriate.
  • Develop and conduct preventative mental health program inclusive of inmate training, counseling, recreation activities, discipline, orientation and other support services.
  • Provide staff training, both group and individual, in-staff counseling techniques.
  • Prepare and conduct special training programs for staff as scheduled.
  • Maintain and monitor confidentiality of inmates and their files; observe applicable HIPAA rules.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
