Description

The Medical Director provides psychiatric services for the diagnosis and/or treatment of psychiatric disorders on inpatients and outpatients who present themselves or are referred to Horizons Mental Health Center for care. Professional services are provided in accordance with policies approved by Horizons Board of Directors and/or the medical staff of Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System. Outpatient services are provided within one or more offices of Horizons Mental Health Center serving Reno, Pratt, Kingman, Barber and Harper Counties. Inpatient psychiatric services are provided at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center; consultation services may be provided to patients in community hospitals serving Pratt, Kingman, Barber and Harper Counties. Travel to branch offices outside of Hutchinson may be required. This position requires full-time employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Physician licensed by the Kansas Board of Healing Arts to practice medicine and Psychiatry in the State of Kansas
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Member in good standing of the organized medical staff of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center
  • Fully capable and qualified in accordance with the good medical practice to provide services s to patients of Horizons
  • Have never been and not currently excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal, state or local governmental program for the reimbursement of health care services
  • Comply with Horizons bylaws, rules regulations and policies and any amendments thereto.

Responsibilities
  • Meets productivity standard established by the Horizons Board of Directors or as modified by the CEO.
  • Monitors quality of care and efficiency of medical department services through supervision of individual medical staff members when designated to do so by the CEO.
  • Undertakes special projects at the direction of the Horizons Board of Directors or the CEO.
  • Serves as consultant to the professional nursing staff and Horizons Mental Health Center staff.
  • Participates in educational programs afro professional and paraprofessional personnel.
  • When tasked to do so, participates with personnel from Hutchinson Regional Medical Center or other subsidiaries in planning joint administrative, technical or medical programs.
  • Reviews and is responsible for methods of treatment for patients who are referred to Horizons for medical services and who are not presently under the care of a psychiatrist.
