POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a psychologist to work in the Bloorview School Authority. The Bloorview School Authority, located inside Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, is an educational facility that provides innovative school programs to children and youth with disabilities. Each year hundreds of children and young people from across Ontario benefit from our individualized educational programs, which are set up in conjunction with ongoing therapeutic and medical care. The psychologist will have the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated and collaborative interdisciplinary team. This team provides an early intervention program for children in Kindergarten and Grade 1 with a range of physical and communication disabilities.
This is an 18-month contract (September 2025 – March 2027) with the flexibility to work between 0.8 FTE to 1.0 FTE, or 30 to 37.5 hours a week. This position is a school-year position, which follows the academic calendar (September – June), as well as two planned weeks of work in early July and one planned week in August. Holidays fall during periods of school closure. The psychologist will be an integral part of Holland Bloorview’s psychology practice and will be linked to the Hospital’s practice council.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Current Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario required with declared competencies in Clinical (with children) and/or School Psychology
  • Previous job-related experience working with children and families required
  • Previous job-related experience working with clients with autism and developmental disabilities is preferred
  • ADOS-2 reliability, or willingness to learn, is considered an asset
  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary team preferred
Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with clients/families and the interdisciplinary team, provides client and family centred care which is goal oriented, evidence based and outcome oriented
  • Bases practice on established Holland Bloorview policies, procedures, evidence and best practice
  • Contributes to the development of program/service activities
  • Works with client and family to set goals that are targeted with measurable outcomes
  • Works with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure an integrated approach to service
  • Primary focus is on assessment of children, consultation and education to client and family with a focus on maximizing strengths
  • Utilizes research to establish and support evidence-based practice
  • Provides education both formal and informal to clients/families, colleagues, students and others within the organization and the community
  • Engages in support of quality improvement
  • Actively supports client and family centred care
  • 100% of time allocated to Bloorview School Authority seeing clients 10 months in class during school year
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
