The National Gambling Clinic is a highly specialist national NHS service for clients engaging in problem gambling based in London. Our clinic is also part of the National Centre of Behavioural Addictions. We pride ourselves on having acted as a centre of excellence and as a training clinic, having influenced policy and obtained a proven track record of publications. We offer a comprehensive, psychologically-informed, treatment programme with a strong group component. Our programme includes different treatment streams including evidence-based CBT for gambling harms, psychodynamic therapy, medication, as well as family interventions.
We are seeking a Practitioner Psychologist (HCPC accredited) or CBT therapist (BABCP accredited) to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a unique branch of mental health at a time of unprecedented expansion and growth.
The successful candidate will be an energetic and robust individual with sophisticated and sensitive clinical skills, and a proven track record of delivering high quality services in either the NHS, social care or the private sector. Previous experience in delivering CBT and working in adult mental health are essential. Further experience in psychodynamic or systemic work would also be highly desirable. The post-holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures and will be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals and groups. They will be a key part of the MDT and will liaise closely with colleagues from the clinic and other community services to provide true partnership working and seamless care pathways.
CNWL Addictions Directorate is a large well-established NHS provider offering a wide range of high-quality drug, alcohol and behavioural addiction treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural population of Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing, Brent, Hounslow and Hackney and also includes a Club Drug Clinic and national gambling service and gaming service. We have an experienced and diverse workforce and continuing to expand on specialist roles and advance practice.
There is an expectation of evening work once a week and outreach work in other services, to be discussed with the successful applicant. we will consider part time working.
JOB SUMMARY
To provide specialist psychological assessment and treatment for people who present with Gambling Disorder (mainly individual and group CBT)
To proactively liaise with colleagues and other professionals including GPs and CMHTs around the country
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures
To take responsibility for contributing to research, audit, policy and service development in line with clinical governance
