Description

Located in the beautiful Nelson Bay, 50 minutes from Newcastle.
We are a growing private practice with a good reputation and strong referral base. We currently have clinical psychologists, general psychologist and accredited mental health social workers in our practice, with a paediatrician due to join the team in the next 6 months.
We are looking for another psychologist with an interest in working with children and families, in the areas of assessment/diagnosis and intervention. We would also love a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or allied health professional who works in play-based therapy to join our team.
We are in our freshly renovated office and we have part-time employment or independent contractor roles available. Competitive renumeration will be discussed at interview.
Kate is a board approved supervisor with Clinical Endorsement, with an interest in children and families. Peer supervision is run fortnightly for the team, and external supervision is encouraged to diversify clinical input and meet registration requirements.

Requirements:

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Eligibility for registration as a Medicare provider
  • Working With Children Check
  • Police Check
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to continued professional development
  • Ability to work autonomously and contribute to a team environment
  • Ability to positively engage with children, adolescents, and families
  • Experience (or motivation to gain experience and knowledge) with a range of presentations such as ADHD, Autism, anxiety disorders, behavioural difficulties, mood disorders, and trauma.
  • Timely report and letter-writing skills
  • Maintain up-to-date and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Desirable:

  • If you are a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) or play-based clinical with experience in preschool aged children, we would love to hear from you.
  • If you have experience in Autism Assessment, or are interested in professional development in this area we would love to hear from you!
  • If you are a psychiatrist with an interest in working at Strive Hive alongside our psychologists, we would be very motivated to support the establishment of this position (we are currently in the process of setting up a consultant paediatrician and believe access to medical consultants in The Bay will be highly beneficial for our community).

We are flexible with a start-date for a new team member. We can take on a new contractor or employee immediately, and we are open to lining up someone for a 2026 start-date. Please send through an email with your CV and we can arrange a meeting to further discuss your interest in the role and any questions you have. We are very focused on a positive work-life balance and would love to see if we can support what it is you are striving for! (If it is to work in paradise, we’ve got you sorted!)
