PSYCHOLOGIST/PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATE

Job Location: Academic Services Office - 345 Livingstone Street East, Barrie, with travel throughout the school district
Position Type / Hours: Full-Time Permanent. Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, 35 hours weekly, plus overtime as required
Effective Date: As soon as possible
Rate of Pay: $116,171.00 - $118,735.00 - Psychologist
$91,900 - $117,641 – Psychological Associate
We are looking for Psychological Services staff to provide behavioural and mental health consultation and psychological assessments. The Board’s psychological services staff provide consultation as well as programming support, crisis and threat assessment response, brief counselling to students as well as participation in school and multi-disciplinary team meetings to support students with complex needs, as well as provision of professional development for Board staff.
All Psychological Services staff are responsible for providing consultation and psychological assessment services to school teams, families and other professionals in support of students. In consultation with other Psychology staff, and under the direction of the Senior Psychologist, Psychological Services staff develop recommendations for student support plans and appropriate interventions, in support of the achievement of Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board’s vision, mission and strategic plan.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and experiences to the role:
❖ Doctoral or Masters degree in Psychology (or similar program) from an accredited University (please include photocopy along with your application), plus 3-5 years experience delivering psychological services preferred.
❖ Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario with declared areas of competency in School Psychology, Clinical Psychology (with children and adolescents) or both.
❖ Previous experience working in an educational environment with children and youth.
❖ Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
❖ Excellent interpersonal, written communication skills including proficiency with technology.
❖ Demonstrated ability to be an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team.
❖ Demonstrated experience providing psychological assessments to children and youth including preparation of psychological assessment reports with diagnostic statements and recommendations, as appropriate.
❖ Demonstrated experience supporting students with a broad range of learning and mental health challenges, preferably including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities.
❖ Candidates must possess a valid Driver’s License and a vehicle as travel within the Board’s jurisdiction is a requirement of this position.
