Overview Psychology Interns provide psychological assessments, diagnostic evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations, and evidence-based psychotherapy to the patients seen in the Department of Psychiatry’s outpatient clinic, embedded psychiatric services throughout DHMC, New Hampshire Hospital, Sununu Youth Services Center, and Hanover Psychiatry. Psychology Interns have many professional responsibilities during the internship training year, including but not limited to the clinical care of patients, improving their own educational preparation, and teaching those with whom they work. They are expected to provide competent and compassionate patient care, and to work effectively as a member of the health care team. By virtue of their clinical and scientific training, Psychology Interns are also uniquely qualified to provide evidence-based psychological interventions to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock patient population. They serve as active partners in the operations of the clinics in which they serve, alongside their licensed supervisors who maintain oversight and professional responsibility for the clinical care they provide. Qualifications Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, enrollment in a doctoral degree program (PhD or PsyD) from an APA-accredited psychology graduate training program. Responsibilities 1. Outpatient and inpatient psychological assessments. 2. Outpatient and inpatient diagnostic evaluations of psychiatric conditions. 3. Outpatient and inpatient neuropsychological evaluations. 4. Provision of evidence-based psychotherapies to outpatient and inpatient populations. 5. Consultation and continuing education to non-mental health medical specialties regarding psychosocial aspects of care. 6. Active involvement with program development and quality improvement initiatives throughout the DH system, and their evaluation and dissemination. 7. Attendance and active participation in didactic learning initiatives. 8. Collaboration on externally-funded clinical research projects. 9. Collaboration and treatment team planning for patients presenting with complex co-occurring mental and physical illnesses Required Licensure/Certifications Current enrollment in good standing in a doctoral degree program (PhD or PsyD) from an APA-accredited psychology graduate training program.
