QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Represents Northridge Community Church and accepts its mission and values
  • Qualified Psychotherapist Designation from reputable center for education
  • Be a registered (or eligible) member in good standing with either CRPO or OCSWSSW.
  • Experience in direct case management
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability and demonstrated willingness to interact with families and local community
  • Experience in the field recommended
  • Strong ability to seek out and work cooperatively with individuals and agencies
  • Strong assessment, problem solving, conflict resolution, mediation and advocacy skills
  • Ability to exhibit respect for individual diversity, self-determination and empowerment in a non-judgmental, empathetic yet professional manner
  • Ability to compile statistical data and reports for the purposes of reporting, review and evaluation
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and appropriate abuse training
  • Computer literacy in MS Office software applications with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, including the OWL Platform
  • Strong organizational administrative skills. Able to carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required

Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:

  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • A clean drivers abstract
  • Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Counseling and Psychotherapeutic Treatment: Provide clinical counselling (psychotherapy) to people impacted by mental health challenges as part of a team. Liaise with ministries, community agencies, family and other staff members, as necessary Model appropriate behaviour, intervene in crisis situations, provids advocacy as required Endorse NCC’s mission, vision and purpose Support and implement mission and ministry congruent with the operational values of NCC & The Salvation Army
Administration and Reporting: Provide all necessary administrative material and statistical records; completes all reports required by the Ministry and the Salvation Army Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation related to clients and initiates any new documentation Uphold professional ethical standards in providing confidentiality of clients and the ancillary recording, tracking and maintenance of all client files in accordance with the Code of Ethics as outlined by the Ontario College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) and/or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) Ensure that Salvation Army procedural and accreditation requirements are adhered to

Planning and Development: Assist with the establishment of a York Regional strategy for Mental Health for the Salvation Army

  • Engage and participate in Divisional and Territorial conversations related to development, direction and auditing requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling, Psychology or Social Work, or related field.
  • Be a registered member in good standing with either CRPO or OCSWSSW

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in this field
  • Experience in direct case management

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $32.13 to $40.16 with a maximum of $48.20.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Responsibilities
  • Endorse NCC’s mission, vision and purpose
  • Support and implement mission and ministry congruent with the operational values of NCC & The Salvation Army
  • In cooperation with Northridge Community Church and appropriate internal governing structure, (Psychotherapist, Community & Family Services (CFS) Coordinator, Officers, Staff and Leadership Team) provide counselling for individuals impacted by mental health challenges.
  • Act as point person to facilitate and direct clients into the holistic care of the Church community – ensure pastoral support / chaplaincy are provided as requested.
  • Provide all necessary administrative material and statistical records; completes all reports required by the Ministry and the Salvation Army.
  • Provide clinical counselling (psychotherapy) to those impacted by mental health concerns. (Each client hour constitutes c. 100 minutes of actual time for reports, scheduling, phone calls and other related administrative duties)
  • Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation related to clients and initiates any new documentation.
  • Uphold professional ethical standards in providing confidentiality of clients and the ancillary recording, tracking and maintenance of all client files in accordance with the Code of Ethics as outlined by the Ontario College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) and/or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). Ensure that Salvation Army procedural and accreditation requirements are adhered to.
  • Models appropriate behaviour, intervenes in crisis situations, provides advocacy as required.
