JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced psychotherapist to join our team as an Independent Contractor. The ideal candidate will provide therapy to adults and/or teens with an emphasis on trauma-informed interventions. This role requires a strong understanding of trauma and attachment, and an ability to use an eclectic approach to best suit each clients’ needs. As an independent contractor, you will provide clinical services on a flexible, self-directed basis, while maintaining autonomy over your schedule and practice decisions.

  • Provide individual counseling and psychotherapy to clients experiencing trauma-related symptoms (e.g., PTSD, complex trauma, grief, abuse).
  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and provide treatment based on trauma-informed care principles.
  • Utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, Brainspotting, CBT, DBT, and somatic approaches.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with legal, ethical, and organizational guidelines.
  • Offer crisis intervention and safety planning for clients experiencing acute distress.
  • Educate clients on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and resilience-building techniques.
  • Adhere to ethical and governing college standards of practice and remain current on developments in trauma-focused therapy.
  • Support with obtaining referrals
  • Access to office downtown Guelph on evenings and weekends and/or 1-2 days a week, work hours can be negotiated (parking on side)
  • Access to Janeapp database for scheduling, notetaking, and billing

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Masters level education in psychotherapy or social work .
  • Registered and in good standing with the relevant regulatory body (CRPO, OCSWSSW)
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a clinical setting.
  • Strong background in crisis intervention and working with populations who have experienced trauma.
  • Must engage in clinical consultation.
